Strip ChartOverview ► Start Off

Strip Chart if embedded into Graph IDE. That means that when you launch Graph IDE your first task will be to figure out how to make a Strip Chart and then figure out how to use a Strip Chart.

To make a Strip Chart, first select the Multiple Coordinate Graph selector icon in the Graphics Tools and then drag on the document graphic view. Then in the inspector editor choose the Strip Chart Character (see the pop up button at the bottom of the Multiple Coordinate Graph inspector). By doing that, the Multiple Coordinate Graph is controlled by a Strip Chart arranger as diagrammed in the Major Components section.

After making a strip chart then the next objective is to put data onto it. There are two ways to do that as follows:

Once data is imported or acquired then the various controls are used to transform that data. The Derived preference section describes how to operate on signals to produce many things related to voltage signals such as energy, displacement, velocity, windowing and counting. The Spectra section describes vibration analysis and spectral analysis. The Strip Chart section describes how to pan back and for in time and set the date interval to show.

Once you have the Strip Chart that you want then save the document. Saving the document will save all the data and strip chart attributes. The document can also be saved to the cloud and in that way the data is stored remotely for safe keeping. If your data is important then consider setting up your own local cloud server and also archiving the document that stores the data.

The document can be saved at any time and data present during the save is archived in a consistent state along with the document. That means that if acquisition is on then the document is stored and then acquisition of new data proceeds and hence any new data after the save is not saved and the document will need to be saved again. Consider turning off data acquisition before saving so that the acquisition is not interrupted and the entire dataset is saved. When the document is saved then it can be archived to preserve existing data, but do not move the document while acquisition is on.
